Hello. Thank you for visiting! Choosing an agent is an important decision. Unlike most agents serving this area, I actually live in Manton. And although I service nearby areas such as Shingletown and Viola, my area of expertise is Manton. This is my home! I first visited Manton in 1975 and became a home owner here in 1981 with the purchase of an historic 40 acre ranch known as the old "Doc Thompson Place" on Rock Creek Road. Now we live on "Alfalfa Hill" just off Cedar Ridge Road, 15 acres in the big trees with a trout pond. Community service is important to me and has been for many years, long before I began working in real estate. I served as a Firefighter and Secretary/Treasurer of the Manton Volunteer Fire Department for ten years. Currently I am a member of the Manton Grange, the Manton Fire Safe Council, the Manton Historical Society and serve as secretary of the Battle Creek Watershed Conservancy (check out the historic Salmon and Steelhead Restoration Project currently in progress at www.battle-creek.net). Many residents of Manton also know me as "Tom Knight the potter" as I have been a ceramic artist of award-winning copper red glazed porcelain pottery since 1980. It has been great fun on occasion showing Manton school kids the joys of working with clay. Quite of few folks have pieces of my pottery because I have donated work to fund-raisers for years. I sold my work through the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite, the Phoenix Shop in Big Sur, the Highlight Gallery in Mendocino and more recently all over the country though the internet at Guild.com. My education includes degrees from the University of California, Santa Cruz and California State University, Chico. I am fortunate to have traveled over much of our great country, as well as Europe, Central America and Asia. I served our country as a VISTA Volunteer in Norfolk, Virginia where I worked with troubled youth and the Peace Corps in Nepal where I worked on an ag project increasing grain yields. I am married, a father and a proud grandfather of three. My wife Donna is a senior executive with a publishing company in the Bay Area. Our second home is a condo on the waterfront in Emeryville, last exit before the Bay Bridge. Real estate is a constantly evolving profession and currently facing some unique challenges. I continue to develop my understanding and skills by attending night classes at Merritt College in Oakland, one of the top programs in the state. Sales of luxury condos in the Bay Area several years ago gave my career a big boost. The importance of high ethical standards in the practice of real estate cannot be overstated. You will be pleased with my honesty, integrity and attention to detail. You will find me very knowledgeable about Manton, the depth of wells which varies greatly, difference between Shasta and Tehama Counties (Manton is in both), as well as the abundant natural resources and colorful history of the area. One of my favorite places in Manton is the Diner. You will find me there often. I recommend a Burger and a Chocolate Shake. There are some delicious pies too. Meet me at the Diner for some good eats and interesting conversation. Tom Knight Manton Office: 530-474-1335 Emeryville Office: 510-597-1279 Mobile Office: 510-710-1458 |
